|

tomtom go 300, windows XP service pack 2. I want to update my maps... I'm not really bothered that the tomtom system is running v6.150 and it's not the latest. However when I plug the tomtom in the USB on the PC and turn it on, tomtom home v2.2.2.83 starts up so it knows the tomtom is there, also it can be seen in my computer, which recognises it is a tomtom, but when in TThome I click to update my devise/update maps/get free map corrections it asks me to connect the device????? I've tried doing this in every order... Any ideas of how to get TThome to see it / ways of updating without using TThome?? any help much appreciated |

Several issues:
First:
A bug in Home v2 means it cannot see old software versions.
So you need to install Home v1.6, then update the system software as far as you can with that, and then revert to Home v2 to update further.
To get Home v1.6, go to HERE and select the RIGHT-HAND download (for Navigator 6).
Second:
You haven't said what version of maps you are running now, but if they are the original ones supplied with the Go300, they are too old to get the free "Mapshare" minor corrections. You need v675.1409 or higher.
Third:
To buy and install the latest maps (v715 at the moment) you must be running v7 software and using Home v2.2
Hope those help

This is the procedure I use
Make sure you have created an account with Tomtom !!
you then connect the tomtom by the usb cable and then switch the device on !! it will then say do you wish to connect to the computer on the Tomtom !! you press yes then the Tomtom home will start automatically .
From there you will see your tomtom device in tomtom home and you can do what you want to do .
I am in no way an expert there are a lot of people who use the forums with expert knowledge I am sure someone else will post soon
Also make sure you disconnect your Tomtom by clicking disconnect device and wait until it appears on your screen again do you wish to connect to the computer touch the screen and say no
One last thing make sure you back your Tomtom up in explorer as tomtom home is not reliable .
You may need to update Tomtom home as well
Also you could try another Usb point |
