On my own TomTom I have 710 Western Europe 1GB maps, but for the last week I have been using in France the much larger 715 Western Europe map which is, I believe, about 1.7 GB. Although there doesn't seem to be much difference in the roads, the larger map shows, in France, far more topographical features, in particular very detailed outlines of woodland etc. This was what I had expected from the larger map.
I was surprised, therefore, when returning to UK on Sunday to find that this extra detail doesn't seem to be included for Britain, even on the 1.7 GB map. Looking at the area where I live, only a tiny fraction of the woodlands are shown. Why is the level of detail different in France and UK for the same map?
Robin

Seem to remember seeing an option in one of the menus somewhere for how much detail is shown ?

Maybe a few more brain cells have died since then Laughing

Not on the TomTom...

As for why, who knows?
Probably the same reason why there were no Doctor or Dentist etc. POIs for Great Britain, but there were for France and Eire. TeleAtlas seems to see the UK as a third world country, not worthy of decent updates.
Look how long it takes some major road changes to be implemented.
