I was looking at this myeslf today but a bit confused about the link to the European voices. It seems that the link to the Euro voices just plays the WAV file (demo). Maybe the voices are still under construction.
I think most of these are controlled by Andy_P2002, perhaps he can clear this one up

Had another look at the pages and it seems there is a European file you can download with the "Kate" voice but without the "Chimes"
Look at the following page:-
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtom-ogg-files.php
Then down near the bottom at the left side in the section:-
"Text to Speech “Kate” Euro Camera Alerts (KPH)"
It's the one with the "Chime" download that seems to be the WAV file demo only.

AHHH! Well spotted!
Someone mentioned the other day that there were no km/h warnings and I remembered that I had done some, so I checked they were still there and even downloaded the "non-chime" version to double check.
Didn't spot the missing chime version though.
I did send them to Darren, therer must have just been a mix up when the page got made....
I'll give him a buzz. |

Darren
Any more news about Liz Whittaker recording the new voices and if so is she doing all of them including the chk file and could they be recorded louder so that I can hear them when I'm driving with the radio on.

It's under way, we no longer support the data.chk file method so this won't be included and the volume will be slightly louder than the current offering. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Sorry Darren my error (it was quite late ) I meant to say the original liz voice for navigation(vif) as with my MDA compact 3 the directions are a bit quiet when the radio is on even at full volume.( I would rather have a loud voice so I could turn the volume down than it not being loud enough.)

As far as I know, her offer to re-record was for the speed camera alerts rather than the navigation instructions.
If it really bothers you, there are tools on the web to extract the individual instructions back out of the dataxx.chk file. You could then see if you could squeeze any more volume out of them re-save and re-compile the dataxx.chk file again. Quite a bit of work though. |

That's correct, we have no plans to offer custom navigation instructions. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Andy
Tried that last night using viftool and all I kept getting were errors in extracting ogg files and when I did manage to extract them the slightest increase in volume created distortions in the quality, so it looks like I'll have to turn my radio down a bit. |
