Ive never used this before it looks a bit confusing but i exspect its quite easy to use.
Ive got three places to go soon and i have no idea how to get there but the three places are in the opposite directions can you still put them in? |

1. Download or open Google Maps.
2. Near the top, click on the orange’ Get Directions’ (From and To split into two).
3. Put your start address in. (Address, postcode whatever.)
4. Put the end address in (Address, postcode whatever).
5. Click on the Grey ‘Get Directions. Google maps will now work out a route.
6. (If you prefer a different road, grab the route and move it to another road.)
7. Once you are satisfied, Zoom right in to ‘A’ and move it just a few feet/metres.
8. Do the same with ‘B’ (This is necessary).
9. Near the top right hand side, click on ‘Link To This Page’.
10. Copy the highlighted link at the top.
11. Open the website http://houghi.org/tomtom/
12. Paste the Link you copied into the space provided and click ‘Make ITN’.
13. You will be invited to save the file to the desktop etc.
14. From there, you can now place the file.itn into the ITN folder on your TT.
15. Do the same for the other two routes, or work out a route that captures all three destinations.
16. On the TT, select ‘Itinerary Planning’.
17. Select ‘Options’ and ‘Load Itinerary’.
18. Click on ‘Yes’.
19. Select your route/destination. Press’ Done’.
20. Click on ‘Yes’.
21. Click on’ Fastest Route’. And enjoy!
Alternatively, some people just ‘Navigate To’ and then save it as a Favourite.
Depends what you personally want to do. I prefer the Google method, especially if I am driving the ‘Scenic’ route. _________________ TT Start 60-OS:1344689 (12/9/13)

Hemlock's method is a good "advanced" technique.
But here's what you do if you just want to make an itinerary...
Go to the Itinerary planning page.
Go options/new itinerary (if there is anything on screen already)
Use the "add" button to add your destinations one by one. This gives you all the same choices of address, favourite, point on map, etc. that you get for a normal "navigate to...".
You will end up with a list of destinations in the order you entered them. If you press "done" it will then offer to navigate you to the first on the list. Simple as that, but EACH ONE will be treated as a completely separate trip.
If you want it to be handled as ONE trip with several intermediate stops along the way, you need to select each destination in turn and change it to a "waypoint" by by tapping on it and selecting "mark as waypoint" instead of destination.
That's about it, there are plenty of other options to delete steps, show them on the map, mark them as already visited etc.
The one thing it CAN'T do, which is the one thing everybody WANTS it to do, is work out the best ORDER to take the steps in (the "delivery driver scenario").
So if you have got destinations in opposite directions, it makes no difference to the machine, it will just navigate you to each one in turn by the best route it can between each one, but in the order YOU chose.
EDIT: Ahh I see as "jezzer" you've already had a fuller answer along the same lines in "another place" |

Yes I agree, If you haven’t done it before the example above looks daunting.
But I can assure you that once done, it takes but a couple of minutes to make another Itinerary.
I just think that I have more control this way over the ‘Find Alternative’ Menu options offered on the TT, when planning a particular route that I would like to use.
It’s like many alternative strategies, if you feel more comfortable with one and use it a lot,
then you don’t even think about it the next time you use it. _________________ TT Start 60-OS:1344689 (12/9/13)

Doing it on the PC, makes it easier to visualise and to do your own "route optimisation" to see which order to place each stop.
But.... of course you need access to a PC!
We should also mention "Tyre" which is a fantastic program which allows you to create itineraries in either Google maps OR Google Earth (so no web connection needed...) and download them straight to the TomTom. |
