I have a TT Classic which works fine most of the time. However randomly it will not start having been put away working. A screen comes up with a picture of a TT back view with a cable coming out of it. Resetting with a pin does not cure this and the only way to clear it is to connect to a computer and then disconnect it again. This clears the problem but is hardly handy when you are miles from home.
My question is does this point to an intermittent fault with the unit itself or the sd card?
Thanks in advance

Two things you could try.
1. Hold the Reset in for 30 secs.
2. Remove the SD Card, and then replace it. (With the Device switched off.) _________________ Richard

Thanks for the reply. Tried both those suggestions on different occasions, neither have worked.

What software version are you currently running?
Do you have a backup of a previous version you could try going back to? |

It is the latest software as there were no updates when I connected yesterday to TT Home. I don't think reverting back to a previous edition will do any good as it did the same on that.

Sorry to keep on, but are you saying you've presently running v7.163? And that you had the problem on the version before that? (and was that v7.162?)
You see the difficulty when we have to guess what you've got?
It's perfectly possible, that you have got an issue with a version of software and the next version was such a small change that it make no difference.
The Classic is quite old now so may well struggle with latest software versions for some reason, maybe a slow SD card, maybe something else.
Do you have an EARLY backup, even a "day 1" one that you can try temporarily to see if the problem clears. then we have something to go on.
If not, it's worth a fresh MANUAL software install from HERE. Come back if you need help with that, but there are plenty of instructions in previous posts if you do a search for them. |

Yes I am using V 7.163. I can't rember which previous versions I was using when it froze before. It has done it on about 3 occasions over a period of probably about 6 months. I don't use it very often as I tend to drive local regular routes so don't need TT. I am not sure about back ups as I have had problems with Home and I shall have to check if any older ones are still on the computer. The problem then will be that there is no guarantee when it will next freeze and it could be months before it does it.
If it is the fact that the unit is getting too old to handle the newer software then maybe I'll have to start saving up for a new one!!
Many thanks for your help.
