HTC TyTn II - Can I install Navigator 5 ?

Hi - I have just bought a HTC TyTn II, the Vodafone badged version (v1615)

This runs on Windows Mobile 6.

I have TT Navigator 5 on cd's from when I used to have an Ipaq.

I would like to install this onto my new phone. Is this possible ?

I am having problems - when I put the installation cd into my laptop (XP) it goes through the licence accepting screen, then to the page saying what it is going to install - installation / voices etc etc, but then it stops and I get error message saying installation cannot continue. So I cant get it onto my pc to even think of trying to install it onto the phone.

I do not have it on a memory card, just on cd's. but the phone has a new empty 2Gb micro sd card waiting to be used.

How can I get it onto my laptop to try installing it to my phone ?

It is a full legitimate TT Navigator 5 upgrade cd set I bought a few years ago - when TT gave out free upgrade editions for TT3 users, and the details / codes for it are still in 'my tomtom' area on the TT website.

Have you tried installing the TTN5,21 application by using CAB files, this involves simply copying the two CAB files to the memory card, inserting it to the device then tapping each file using file explorer on the PDA, once you have the application installed put a map on to the device and activate it, it should work - Mike

Hi Mike, just to say thankyou very much - the cab file installation method worked very well and I now have TTN5 installed on my phone in its entirety and it registered fine with TomTom.

Glad to hear it, although it is a little bit of messing around to overcome the installers problems of working with WM5/ 6 Bear in mind you can also use ogg files for spoken alerts to the speed camera files using TTN5 - Mike
