I cant say too much here, but i`ve recently been contacted by Tomtom Public Relations regarding my 'high' rate of mapshare corrections uploaded via home to tomtom. I am regarded now as one of tomtom`s highest reporters of corrections from the UK and the US.
During our conversation, the lady mentioned that im a very active user in several internet GPS forums.
Therefore, Tomtom DO read these public forums. Keep putting your comments and suggestions/issues on forums like these. They do read them. I mentioned the mapshare issues with the new firmware for the go x20, and she was NOT surprised by the suggestion there was an issue there.
Don`t want to go into any more detail about the conversation, incase i engage with Tomtom further, but do plz keep commenting on any software/hardware issues we all come across! _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

Makes you wonder how they know that your Mapshare corrections and your site username are one and the same person. Next thing we know, I'll be getting a knock on my door by a bath mat salesman who heard about me from TomTom!!
If you don't want all the many free gifts they shower you with, give them my address - I could do with a free 930T if they're asking! (Make that a working 930T, by the way). _________________ Dennis

Yes i guess they just assume that falkirk81 on 2 forum sites and my email which starts falkirk81@***.com are all the same person. Anyhow im not complaining, im glad i can help them make the software better by relaying my issues directly to them.
hopefully i can help make a difference! _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

Assumptions like I have posted 200 photos on flickr? Or I have a radar bike or something? _________________ Dennis

Quick question though. As you have kept your side of the bargain regarding MapShare (more than necessary really ), have TomTom kept their side of the bargain and incorporated your changes in the latest maps?
I understand that the new map data would come from TeleAtlas etc but they have used user changes on their current map - have these user changes made it onto the new maps? If not, I don't really see why anyone should bother sending in corrections.
I would love to help the developers out regarding transparent icons but they don't seem to want to talk to me. I'm pretty sure they know who I am. _________________ Gerry

I dont know if they have incorporated any of my changes into actual map data. I would assume not as the map im using (see sig below) isnt now the latest. And it was also one of the first to use mapshare. I dont really mind if tomtom or teleatlas dont use my data, thro mapshare everyone gets to see my changes on the map im using. But the changes i make also benefit me dont forget. So what im saying is, if they choose to use my data to make better maps, then thats good. But if they only choose to send it out via mapshare to other users of the same map version i have, then thats equally as good. _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

Worse than that, they know your e-mail address and which forums you post in.
In addition to that, they can use you mapping update submissions to track where you've been.
