Advice for walking in the UK and USA

I have the chance to go hiking in Colorado this summer and I'm looking for a hand-held unit that I can take to use there. I also hike in the Lakes and surrounding areas in the north-west of England and would like to use the same GPS device here too.

After spending several hours wading through web-sites and reviews I'm really struggling to find a suitable device.

My (ideal) requirements are:

• replaceable batteries/good battery life (recharging might be a problem)
  
• detailed maps for walking in the US and UK - preferably non-proprietary
  
• accurate location
  
• I don't need this for use in a car but that would be a bonus
  
• logging so that I can save the routes hiked and review then when I get home on my PC

I've looked at the SatMap Active 10, and even though the website mentions International my guess is that this will only be Europe.

The Garmin CS60x looks like my best bet at the moment.

Are there any others that I should consider?

Well it is looking like the Garmin Colorado 300 is going to be my choice. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether I should buy this now or wait until my trip to the USA? Are maps bought in the USA going to work on a UK unit, etc.?
