How much do you want to spend???

Tomtom and Garmin are the two most recommended makes

Once you have decided on your budget the forum members will suggest which ones may be the best for you !!

As for mounts, they all come with some sort of windscreen sucker arrangement in the box. You can buy more permanent solutions, but as the police advice is to remove all signs of a satnav (not just the satnav itself) whenever you leave the car, you want something that's easy and portable. The standard mount works fine for most people.
The device is powered by a cable that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket.

An alternative reply would be..

The model that comes out just AFTER you have bought the previous version!

But...

Get your budget set
Decide an order of must haves (eg Text-to-Speech / hands free / image viewing / MP3 playing.)

Stick to TomTom or Garmin and you won't go far wrong

See how many of your 'must haves' you get for your money.

Then go and try one out in a shop - you don't have to buy from them of course.

Keep a look out on places like Amazon.com who have some good offers on from time to time.
