Before i take the unit back, can anyone help this issue? i paired my 520 with my Sony Ericsson P1i this worked fine but my network wont let pay and go customers user mobile web! Anyway i deleted the connection due to it stops the connection to my car handsfree, but now i cant pair the two devices properly. It goes through the pairing process but takes ages and only says it works with phonebook and data. The pairing shows on my phone but they wont connect just says connection failure. Tried connecting through both phone and 520! neither works. tried deleting and repairing to no effect! any ideas? I want to use the handsfree and text message reader, my phone is compatible with both, thanks in advance.

The first thing I would say is that we need clarification form you.
As you firstly say "it stops the connection to my car handsfree", then later say "I want to use the {TT} handsfree and text message reader".
Please bear in mind, I'm not being clever here... You likely just didn't realise...
But if you set TomTom to be your handsfree, then indeed of course it WILL stop your car handsfree being used/working - it is one or the other, it clearly can't be both.
Conversely, if you wish to use your car handsfree, you WON'T be able to use TT to read messages, as it needs to be the Handsfree tool, for that aspect to work.
In terms of trying to give you a useful answer to your query too, all I can really say is persist - for some strange reason, since my Nokia E51 phone has come back from repair (cosmetic only), it too is now being Billy Sugger with my TomTom, in that despite me having DISABLED Handsfree on the TomTom device, and have it set for Wireless Data ONLY, whenever TT sees my phone, my phone is going into Headset/Handsfree mode - and as my phone is NOT one that actually works for this feature, then I am screwed.
Switching my phone off, usually helps fix it though (thus implying it is the PHONE that is the culprit).
So again, keep trying what you are doing, repeatedly, as you have, in the hope that it eventually works.
Can't really add any more than that as the usual suspects will slate me for the long post, even though it means this one is too unhelpful as a result
sorry i wasn't clear, i want to use the tomtom in my truck when im at work but i have a parrot bluetooth car kit that i use in my car. My phone works fine with that and my ear kit but there seems to be some issue with the tomtom

Ah right...
Well looking at the TT phone compatibility list, I see your phone IS listed, and as supporting all the relevant features.
Alas, it tells me that for mine (or rather it's predecessor), but never has done, and even for those that DO get Handsfree calling working for them, I'm informed there is an issue whereby it can only be via the internal speaker, and NOT by FM transmission to car radio etc.
In short the handsfree aspect of TT is nothing like what it is cracked up to be - the general rule actually seems to be the newer and more advanced your phone, the LESS chance of success. The OLDER and more basic the phone, the MORE chance of success.
In terms of your case though, one thing you do need be mindful of, given your extra information now, is that if you configure your TT device for Handsfree use, for use in the truck, then in effect, it will 'remember' this fact.
And then when you get into your car with the Parrot kit, it will nevertheless, try and connect to your phone and have IT be the Handsfree provider, not your parrot.
This CAN be sorted, however, by simply going into the menu on the TT and disabling Handsfree Calling, when you are in the car, and re-enabling when in the truck.
But as I just described above, for me, despite DISABLING handsfree on my TomTom, when it sees my phone, it STILL makes my phone go into Handsfree mode.
I suspect the phone is to blame, but I am just pointing out that even with HF disabled on the TT, mine STILL connects to the phone.
So not a surprise you too are having problems.
It's one of those things that sounds great on paper, but as I hinted before, unless you have an older, more basic phone, then the experience proves less than wonderful!
Good luck, and let us know how you come on though. Others might also chip in with better advice soon too in this thread maybe.
Yeah but the first time i paired the two it worked fine apart from a buzz on outgoing calls which we found out to be the vehicle fridge unit! bloody frigoblock! but once i deleted that pairing thats when it stopped. Gonna try the reset button and see if that does anygood!
