Have a look at This.
That should give you a good grounding in what to do.
If there's anything you don't understand, or you hit a snag, just come back with the problem. _________________ Richard

That would be excellent if I could find them in csv format for a Garmin Nuvi. Googling without success atm, can anyone point me in the right direction please?
TIA |

Download and install POIEdit to your PC, use this application to open the ov2 file then choose "Save As" and select Garmin csv to save the file, the resultant data will be in the correct format for your Garmin - Mike |

Quick post before work, I indeed found POIedit late last night, downloaded it and found I could change file formats to csv. However the low bridge downloaded files where in ov2, ogg and bmp formats. I wasn't sure which ones and how many I needed to convert and load on the Nuvi. If I convert the relevant ov2 file to csv and load it and appropriate bmp with POI loader to my Nuvi does it magically display the correct bridge height bmp and red banner/audible warning when appraching a low bridge? There is approx 10 different heights of bridges and bmps so above X10 all POILoader'd at the same time?
The other problem was I browsed through the huge list of locations on the database and could not find any in Northern Ireland which is where I need them. They may be there but I suspect its a mainland database only.
TIA |

May I suggest that you might receive more relevant advice if you edit your profile to include your location.
I've never understood the reluctance to include at least the country, and preferably the county or region, as it really does make a difference to those trying to help. _________________ Anita

Done, not a reluctance on my part, it just never occurred to me that it may help. |

Thanks!
Sorry, re-reading that it didn't come across as the friendly suggestion it was meant to be.
It wasn't really just aimed at you. So often people can spend their time trying to give help based on their UK knowledge and experience then, several posts later, the OP just happens to mention that they're in the US, so none of the advice was relevant to them. This can be very frustrating for those requesting help and those trying to give it, which can be avoided if members give some indication of their location. _________________ Anita

Hi, all good info so far.
I'm a newbie to this and have tried to convert the files for use on Garmin streetpilot c550 but can't get any of the files onto the system.
Does anyone have any ideas of what I could try.
Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome.
It might help if you told us what you did do and where it doesn't work. Please include any error messages. |

Hi,
Yeah I followed the brief instructions above, opened and extracted files fine. used poiedit to open and save as .csv
From here I try to use poi loader to install on gps but it can't find suitable files. I've obviously missed something, Not sure what companion files are needed for Garmin?
Thanks again for helping to stop my brain melting! |
