|
|
Can't seem to get a decent signal no matter where i place the antenna! I'm using a TomTom Go 520, with the Traffic Module, in my car a Vauxhall Astra, and my Truck a Scania! My old Navman N60i and T1 worked ok but the TomTom seems much worse! I can't use the GPRS as i'm on o2 prepay and that doesn't support mobileweb! Does anyone have any tips? Thanks in advance. |

For a start look at the RDS-TMC device near the connector and locate the small white flag with a number printed on it, the last three digits should be 013 if not you do not have the latest receiver and need to contact TomTom on 0845 161 0009 or take it back to where you bought it from.
Assuming you have the latest receiver, make sure the aerial is at least 5CM from the edge of the windscreen, I tend to run my aerial cable from the top left of the screen to the bottom edge, then across the dash to the unit which is mounted centrally. Reception can still be an issue depending upon where you live?? - Mike |

Ta just checked and the label does have 013! i live in Banbury don't get signal till i reach cherwell services then it's fine till i touch the M25 then if i'm heading along the southern stretch from M40 to Gatwick i have no signal for that whole stretch (the bit you need it most for) My navman was the same so i guess its a network issue as opposed to the reciever! but i would of thought that area would be well covered! |

Mike, I can send you a POI file that contains the transmitter locations and associated frequencies/ power levels to put on the unit, you can use this to work out what the correct frequensy should be and then enter it using the manual tune option - if you want it that is?
I detailed how to use it in This post - Mike |

If that's the case I don't think it will EVER work satisfactorily.
You should contact TomTom for a replacement. |

Give TT Support a ring in the morning and demand a replacement RDS device, as they have been handing them out as a free replacement for earlier units (that simply didn't work), if you need the phone number scroll up this page to my first post in the thread to find it - Mike |

Mike, it should be in your inbox by now as I sent it on Saturday around 17:00HR - I also removed your e-mail address from your last post as it attracts spam if you put it in public view that way - Mike |
