Anyone any goss on what there announcing?
I'm assuming it's something significant as surely they wouldn't just hold a press conference for minor developments etc?

Oooh, that's cruel!
I've no inside info at all, but maybe the TeleAtlas deal?
And I'm sure they must have some new models or features coming out, all the brands seem to have to move very rapidly to keep up these days. |

For the hell of it, I just sent an email to the media person listed asking that all of us who subsribe to the (rarely received) TT newsletter get sent information after the conference takes place.
I know, I'm not holding my breath. But, as you've often preached, you don't know if you don't ask. |

I recon it will be the TT 950 announcement with realistic nagging wife mode using voice recognition to realise when you insult it so it can resort to some verbal abuse back at you. |

We're at CeBIT next week and will be at the press conference. So rest assured we'll be posting news once we emerge _________________ Darren Griffin |

Darren, I certainly don't know what the format of press conferences are for this type of thing but, if attendees get to ask questions, and the conference is to announce new products, I would LOVE if the following were asked (hint...hint):
"Considering the multitude of TomTom models in existence now and considering the fact that every software release for TomTom Home as well as every firmware update for the unit comes with bugs, what plans are in place by TomTom to: a) ensure Software development improves; b) Quality Assurance for the software improves and c) knowledge of Customer Service reps for all models becomes consistent from agent to agent?"
I have been a TomTom user for only five months (a North American 720) so I do not pretend whatsoever to know all that much but I do test software for a living so I know what and how releases should be tested prior to release.
From my experience over the past five months, that just isn't happening at TomTom; further, if new models are brought to market, I feel the problems we suffer will just increase.
Thanks in advance for allowing a bit of a rant. |

Or to make the question simpler ....
"When do you intend to make the recent models (introduced during the last 2 years) of the same stability as the GO700/500/300?" _________________ Dennis

......... But without the old built in incendiary device causing them to set fire to themselves after the warranty expires? |

......... But without the old built in incendiary device causing them to set fire to themselves after the warranty expires? | Oh. I never experienced that - mine came with a 2 year warranty and I've got a fire extinguisher in the van anyway. And I'd settle for a 2 year life if it worked. I think I'd even settle for a 1 year life if it worked - x10, x20, xNext, whatever. They seem to be moving towards an out-of-box warranty nowadays, take it out and the warranty expires, switch it on and the Latest Map Guarantee expires! _________________ Dennis
