|
|
I was recently given a new TomTom 910 from a friend.
He bought it for his lorry in Spain, but then discovered that the TomTom does not have a routing option for lorries
So he gave it to me (luck old me!)
I used to have an old TT500, so was able to put all my old colour schemes, POI’s etc. onto the new 910
I’ve installed the latest PocketGPSWorld speed camera databases and icons and everything is running well.
However when I was out driving the other day, a couple of POI icons that looked like white squares with a red border and displaying a speed inside, appeared on the map ahead with a POI warning sound
I checked my “Show POI on map” settings and they were not in there
I then checked my “Warn when near POI” settings and they were not in there either
However, when I connected the 910 to my PC, I found in the Western_and_Central_Europe folder, lots of files which looked like POI and icon files.
All the POIs seem to consist of a set of 3 files as the example shows below:
Safety_Cam_UK_30_TomTom.bmp
Safety_Cam_UK_30_TomTom.ov2
Safety_Cam_UK_30_TomTomOv2.ver
They are obviously speed camera POIs, but the ov2 files are not in the standard format and can't be opened by PoiEdit
After doing a bit of homework, it would seem that these are installed by the TomTom Safety Camera subscription.
However, this unit has never had TomTom Safety Camera subscription
You don’t seem to be able to disable these POIs or change the warning sound through any of the options on the TomTom
If I delete these sets of files, will it cause any problems
Any additional info on this would be greatly appreciated |

They are Tomtom Speed Camera POIs. You can disable them via the PLUS Services menu. _________________ Darren Griffin |

You can delete them from within HOME. It's the safest way.
The warnings are controlled from the TomTom PLUS Menu. One of the Main Menu Options. _________________ Richard

Thanks Darren & Oldboy
That worked a treat.
I wonder how they got on there in the first place? |

They were pre-installed by TT, who were assuming you would want to use them!! _________________ Richard
