Has anyone tried to load the TTS files from Garmin onto non TTS units.
i.e. there are files named "Voice,AmericanEnglish_200.exe."
I was wondering if runing this .exe would put TTS on my non TTs unit?
Would it cause harm or not work at all?
I've seen hacks on the web to do it on a Garmin c530, but was wondering if it would work on other models.
Anyone willing to try and see what happens?

this site does not tolerate the use of unlicensed material on devices they were not intended for, i say this to warn you that a moderator or the like will not take kindly to you asking how to buck the system Wink and it would be better to at least edit your question so as no to incur their wrath Very Happy

This issue is really down to the license agreement you get with the device when it is purchased, certain fees for the TTS files will be paid if the device is fitted with the TTS system.
No TTS = No License therefore it is flouting the legal aspect if you manage to get hold of the files and install them.

TomTom disabled the use of TTS on the 510 and 710 devices when it became apparent that the lesser models would run the TTS, I am sure some of the other manufacturers will have done them same thing or implemented the code in such a way that prevents the TTS system working on units it was never intended for - Mike
