Hi, I'm looking for some advice on how to get my newly-purchased v715 Western Europe map downloaded onto my "Tomtom ONE" first version.
I haven't downloaded any Tomtom products for ages, so I've only discovered the delights of "Tomtom Home" today, whilst trying and failing completely to download my purchase.
Problem is, having downloaded "Tomtom Home" v2.x as instructed, it absolutely will not connect to my "Tomtom ONE" (version 5.410). I've tried both PC and Mac versions, but no luck. The "Tomtom Home" software insists that I must connect my "Tomtom ONE" to the computer, but I have already done that (both the PC and the mac themselves recognise the connection without problem - it's just "Tomtom Home" that seems to have difficulty). Interestingly, "Tomtom Home" says that when I connect the "Tomtom ONE" to the computer, the "Tomtom ONE" screen should say something like "Do you want to connect to computer?" It never does that, but as said above, the PC/mac has no problem recognising the connection to the "Tomtom ONE".
Is there any other way that I can download what is now rightfully mine without this stupid "Tomtom Home" thing? Do I need to update my "Tomtom ONE" software? And how would I do that when "Tomtom Home" doesn't recognise my "Tomtom ONE"?
Any suggestions gratefully received!
Ta.

I have seen this fault once before and it was down to a file that required changing in the root of the memory card, you will need to contact TomTom on Monday 0845 161 0009 explain the problem and they will e-mail the new file over which allows Home to see the older TomTom One devices.
The file is called "system" and resides in the root of the memory card, the one that doesn't work is 683KB and the new one that cures the fault is 667KB - Mike |

Andy if it is on their web site I couldn't find it, but then again even using the search facility is difficult.
I remember the problem as the device belonged to one of the chaps at work, he needed vs7 software on to load a new map but Home couldn't see the device Windows Explorer could (sounds like the same fault to me) - a quick call to TT support and problem resolved - Mike |
