Since reinstalling windows after an hard drive issue I am getting the above error when starting Central V7.
I contacted copilot support who have been very helpfuly including sending out a replacement CD and the following instructions.
Quote: | Click START
- Click SETTINGS
- Click CONTROL PANEL
- Click ADD or REMOVE PROGRAMS
- SELECT COPILOT
- SELECT REMOVE on COPILOT INSTALLATION WINDOW and TAP NEXT
- DOUBLE CLICK MY COMPUTER
- SELECT LOCAL DISK C: (Drive C)
- DOUBLE CLICK PROGRAM FILES
- LOCATE COPILOT folder and DELETE
- DOUBLE CLICK MY COMPUTER
- SELECT LOCAL DISK C: (Drive C)
- DOUBLE CLICK the WINDOWS folder
- List ALL FILES and folders
- LOCATE "CPL7" file and DELETE
|
Having deleted using the above process and reinstalled I have noticed that I do not have the CPL7 file located on my pc or a laptop which is getting the same error code. Has any one else had this issue also could someone please email me their CPL7 file so I could see if this resolves my problems. _________________ Please follow me on twitter @mdyson1968 |

I've searched my C drive (XP Home) and don't have a folder named CPL7
It could be that it's only created when you create a trip?
Either way, my setup is working OK without this folder so your problem is probably not related to it. |

I spoke to a source at ALK this morning. They are aware that this issue affects some installations and are working on a fix. Unfortunately, there is no timescale except "when it is ready". _________________ Tim |

I had problems with the Central install (XP) and ALK sent me a new DVD.
It installed Ok but I get the "alk.copilot updater encountered a fault and needs to close etc etc" message when I start Central. I can ignore it and use the application though - is this same message you are getting?
I've done a full clean install, including a registry clean but makes no difference. |

You can still use Central but it won't find any updates, is how I understand it. _________________ Tim |

@Tim - thanks for your reply
Are you saying this is a known problem then or how it will "work" for me until I get a fix from ALK?
Cheers

ALK know it is a problem; they are working on a fix. Your Central will still work, in that you can make maps, transfer them to the device, change voices, etc., but you will not get updates over the 'net. For instance, what version of Central do you have? There are updates to the version supplied on the DVD. I have 0.5.101.0, for instance. _________________ Tim |

Is the patch available from their website?
Or did they email it to you? |

I have received an email from copilot today containing a patch for the desktop software, and can confirm that this has resolved the isue on my Vista machine.
The like to the download is
http://205.246.138.23/Download/TMobilePatch/Central_v0.5.52.4_patch.zip
Extract the files in the zip folder to a new directory and then copy them to C:\program files\copioot\central _________________ Please follow me on twitter @mdyson1968 |
