First thing I've noticed is that it gives the description and Serial No (not device code) of the device you have connected. Being nosey, I then connected a second device and was asked which one I wanted HOME2 to connect to. I never tried this in earlier versions, so don't know if it's new, but it's new to me! _________________ Tim |

New "Sounds" downloads.
Change your "You have reached your destination" to something else as well as new Ringtone, Incoming message tone and POI alert sounds.
New "add-ons" (in Tools menu). It says I have a new Mapshare "status indicator". Not seen it yet....
Add "Images and icons" (car icon, splash screens)
Changing content, it now "Recommends" stuff (like Traffic and Speed cams.)
It now actually tells you whether you have got the Internal memory or the SD card selected.
That's what I've seen so far... |

It always did. It used to be in a tickbox, which I always used to untick. The rest is new though, I think. _________________ Tim |

You beat me too it, I was in the middle of composing the announcement! I've copied it here and added it to the front page. _________________ Darren Griffin |

TomTom have just announced that v2.2 of their HOME application has been released today. It will be made available using AutoUpdate from within your existing HOME installation. It will also be available later today via the website for download. There are Map Share enhancements as well as a feature that allow users to share their own content.- User content creation
- Easy content download – just select like any other content
- Voting – to see what the community thinks is hot and what’s not.
- User generated content shows up under the list of TomTom content.
Specific content that can be shared includes:- POI’s and proximity warning tones
- Routes/itineraries
- Voices
- Car icons
- Start up and suspend pictures
- Map overlays/imagery
- Color schemes
- Arrival sounds
- Speed warning sounds
- Ringtones
- Incoming message tones
TomTom HOME 2.2 will be available in both Windows and Mac versions.
Much of this functionality is to be welcomed but it does once again bring to the fore TomTom's commitment to the existing user communities and web-sites. Many of the features now included in HOME have long since been available on community sites but TomTom seem determined to exclude us and that is a worrying trend. Biting the hand that feeds it is never good business! _________________ Darren Griffin

The first time that I updated MapShare it took a very long time to install, and then stopped on an error. Tried it again and got the 46K message.
Tried it a second time and I'm now up to 50,465.
Keep 'em coming. _________________ Richard

AT LAST - Ringtones. Not that they have any to offer, but that I can create my own.
Now, please Andy, how do I do the right thing with Audacity ...
I've got the Shostakovich Waltz 2 from the Jazz Suite. It opens in Audacity and plays fine. BUT it opens at 44,100Hz and I need it to be at 22,050. I'm sure you told me how to do it, but I can't remember and I've been struggling ever since I found this thread. My Wallace and Grommit is also in 44,100 and if I simply change the sample rate it plays slowly and sounds like me instead. _________________ Dennis

Forgot to add ... After update, GO920 (W&CE map) says 47960 and GO720 (WE map) says 43814. The only corrections I accept are Corrections I made myself and Corrections to A40 verified by TomTom.
Oh, and Operate My GO required file download AGAIN!
AND I plugged in two devices, login to first one and update, switch device, login and update. Switch device and it requires me to login again, even though I hadn't logged out of the other. Annoying little improvements, YUK! _________________ Dennis

A moderator on a NA tomtom board who is also a Mac user reports he's only being offered the 1.5 version again .....
I guess it's too much to expect TomTom to get anything right the first time .. |
