There was a new version with my 910 when it came out with V652 Maps early 2007.
I don't know if another came with V675. To the best of my knowledge there isn't a newer version for the V7xx series, but I stand to be corrected on that. _________________ Richard

I downloaded UK and Republic Of Ireland version 710.1571 map in November and there was no postcode file attached this time.
I contacted Tom Tom Customer Services enquiring about this and they sent me a Great Britain Postal file & Netherlands Postal File in a PostcodeWE1GB Folder zip file.
It's properties suggest creation 2nd Nov 2007 and modified on 14th Nov 2007.
If that is of any help? _________________ Samsung A55 Android 14

I downloaded a Western Europe map for a colleague at work and it came with no new postcodes file.
I too complained to TomTom and (after the usual rigmarole of answering a totally different question) they sent me a link to download a new one.
What a pity that the "new one" was far older than what he had already on his original map....

Thank you for your reply and link to a download file.
Unfortunately you have answered a different question...
The postcode search was working fine already, but I asked why there was not an updated postcodes file supplied with the new map (as has been done in the past).
Secondly, the postcodes file you sent a link to is for **Version 504** which is VERY old.
My colleague already had Version 603 postcodes with his v660 maps from around January 2006, so installing your "update" would have made matters worse not better.
I have postcodes version 701 on my Go720 with its original v705 mapping, so a newly purchased v710 map should have that version of postcodes at least!

Dear Mr P,
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support
Many Apologies for the link there, it should have been the correct postcode link, but it looks like they have taken the link from our servers for maintenance.
What we think has happened is that your friend has had a previous map installed, with the old Zip folder still on the device, and during the download it did not download the new zip folder.
In the meantime, what you can do is copy the 'zip' folder from your device and tell your friend to paste it directly onto the root of his TomTom directory.
We advise that you make a backup of your device and your friends device before you try this.
Currently at the moment, we do not have the file directly available to give you at this moment, so we suggest you try the above which will fix the issue.

I have just got an e-mail back from TomTom, They seem to be quicker with their responses (only 2 hours). This is what they said.

Dear Ian,,
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support
When we release new map updates, the postcode files are also update too. It comes as standard with the map download. The Postcode files are specific to the map version that you have installed.
If you wish to install your new maps and postcodes to your TomTom, you will need to purchase the latest maps for your TomTom device.
With Best Regards
The TomTom Customer Support Team
So according to this there should be no reason for a seperate download at any time if buying a new map. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

*PLEASE* reply to them...
What they say is simply not true.
I downloaded ANOTHER Western Europe map for the same colleague yesterday (for his wife's Go). I can assure you there was no postcodes file downloaded with it.
Oh, and just to confirm, the postcodes supplied with my v705 map when I bought my 720 was version 701
(The above found by reading the "Great_BritainPostal.ver" in the zip folder with Notepad)

How about:
Thank you for your prompt reply.
You say that "When we release new map updates, the postcode files are also update too. It comes as standard with the map download", but I'm afraid what you say doesn't seem to be happening.
A friend downloaded a new v710 Western Europe map only yesterday and no postcodes file was included in the download.
Also, the same person has contacted you in the past when no postcodes were supplied with another new map and you offered him a download of a version which was even older than the ones he had already, so were therefore useless.
I know that the postcodes file supplied with a Go720 running v705 maps is version 701. Therefore the postcodes file for v710 maps should be AT LEAST that version, or preferably newer.
Please can you supply this latest file as you appear to say I should have it.
Many thanks.
