Do I delete Tomtom database?

Hi All

Thinking of subscribing to the speed camera database for my Tomtom One XL and I have a couple of questions I'd appreciate answers for.

Do I delete the Tomtom speed camera database that came with the unit or just turn it off?

If I delete or turn it off I presume I'd still have the Tomtom safety camera icon, is this correct?
