|
|
Hi All,
Just received my Tomtom Go 720T and so far I'm really pleased with it, everything works fine except the backup feature within the Home software.
Everytime I try to backup the device it just says "Creating backup... Scanning device... " on the PC home screen. I left it overnight and it did not move on from this screen.
I've tried it several times and it's always the same. I need to backup because I've just bought a USA map.
Any ideas would be great.
Regards,
Dave |

Wise people don't use HOME anyway!!!
Use Windows Explorer (for safety, set to show all files and extensions).
Create a folder on you PC e.g. GO720 Backup2008-01-05 then highlight all folders and files in the 720, copy and Paste them into that folder. _________________ Dennis

Hi Dennis,
Oh right thanks for that, I'm just backing up now using the explorer method you mentioned.
Thanks

If you've not seen them, have a look at all the TomTom faq/hints HERE |

So now you've done a sensible backup and read all the manuals and FAQs and hints and tips and stuff ... AND you've made yourself an indelible mental note to do a backup before making any changes and at regular intervals ....
Sounds to me like maybe you have a dodgy installation of TT Home and you WILL need Home for updates of your 720.
It might be a good idea to uninstall and reinstall Home. Just before you do, what version of Home have you got running? Latest is v 2.1.2.121 and if you haven't got that, it should update itself when you are logged in to your TT account (click Check for Update under Help). _________________ Dennis
