GPS systems, hardware and mapping for road navigation have come a long way since we first tried the early software with wired receivers with poor sensitivity.
However, there is still a long way to go in terms of a perfect system, particularly for those with larger vehicles or a reluctance to regularly reverse down narrow lanes totally unsuitable for heavy traffic.
Whilst software like 'lowbridge.com' may help there is very limited assistance on narrow lanes etc.

SUGGEST, software developers and mapping organisations take on board some new year resolutions to provide:-
1) Low bridge identification and avoidance under specified limits becomes a 'standard option'
2) Very narrow country lanes and congested city streets are avoided on a 'standard' HGV/ large vehicle option for route planning.
3) Long NARROW country lanes are given a speed penalty in algorythms defining the 'fastest 'route.
4) Road width information should be shown, on screen or map, as well as speed limits etc. ( optional display)

Any other ideas?????

Happy New Year
