Hi All,
I would like to buy a pocket pc based system. My requirements are,
I would like to used it for both in car nav and walking ( so battery life is important) I understand I will need seperate software for both uses.
I am leaning towards tom tom for car use and memory-map for the walking. Can any suggest what my options are and maybe where to buy?
Thanks in advance

What are you looking to spend ? Having both TomTom and Memory Map with a Pocket PC and a Bluetooth GPS would be the best solution but it won't be cheap. |

Thanks for te reply Dave,
I was hoping to spend around £500 (or less)
I have just read a review here that is putting me off memory-map a little, I dont like the fact that if I buy M-M this year with say the north of England map, Next years south of England map may not be compatable.
To be fare I'm compleatly open to any suggestions as to what kit to buy.
Thanks again in advance

Personally I'd recommend an iPAQ 2210, there's cheap, but don't compromise on quality.
You can pick up a 2210 with Bluetooth GPS and TomTom Navigator 2 GB for around £514.95. TomTom are the cheaper options (last time I looked) apart from the Aldi/Halfords Medion bundle. You can then add either Memory-Map or Fugawi UK to this later if you wanted, or even Anquet maps for restricted locations.
If you're looking to use Memory-Map for more hill walking, then unless you want software updates, maps really shouldn't change much year in year out like they do with road maps. Saying that there were enhanced features like 3D terrain view this year which made people want to upgrade. |
