Well, that was a surprise! I'd not been on the drive smart site for ages, so not downloaded any new databases for ages either. I'd just started a new job in Oldham, and was getting sick of being warned about out of date specs cameras on the M60, so time to update I thought
Except, as you all know, no drive smart updates anymore
That is until I did a search and came back to this excellent site
I'd been here before, a long time ago when I had a version 2/3 of tomtom software, and this camera database was free, ah, the good old days But now, I guess I have to pay for it, which I just have today.
Plugged the ds in, got it finally talking with my pc, uploaded the file. I've not tried it yet, but here's hoping it works ok. Off for a drive tonight so I'll see.
In the meantime, and the main reason for this post , I've had my logging mode on over the last few days, and successfully downloaded the csv file to my pc, but can't open it with anything. Has anyone done this that can help. It would be great to be able to go on a drive then give others in the club (www.scoobysmacs.co.uk) the route I took
Thankyou PGPSW, you've probably saved my license |

You should find the M60 cameras are spot on, there are a few Specs that are permanent installations near the Stockport pyramid area and these are correctly within the database - I cannot help with the logging mode as I have never tried a DS device but I am sure there will be others that can assist with this - Mike |

Thanks Mike. I've just been out tonight and the unit is working better than ever before. Coming alive on roads that before it was silent with warnings of mobile cameras. It also gave me the proper speed of some cameras I passed tonight as well.
Sidneyk, what database is that? How is it going to be updated with new cameras? |

You should be able to open it with Notepad or Excel. If you don't have Excel double clicking the file probably won't work so you'll need to open Notepad and drag the file to Notepad.
You could also download Open Office for free which includes an Excel compatible spreadsheet program. |

Cheers Paul. Opening the file isn't the problem, I can do that and see all the points that have been logged on the trip. What I want to be able to do is put that info into a map program of some sort, so that others can see where I've been. |

Would you trust it? I wouldn't. I recently asked where they got their data from and was told it was from publicly available sources and camera partnerships! Now we all know that is BS, the data isn't available or we'd all have a much easier life and they don't have anywhere near enough customers to gather and collate their own data.
Makes you wonder doesn't it... _________________ Darren Griffin

Trust DS database - certainly not, unless you believe in fairy's.
