Hi, apologies for the simplicity of this question, but still fairly new to the world of PocketPC.
In the instructions for installing the software, the first thing it says to do is do a software reset on the PocketPC. How do I do this? Is it just turning off the iPaq 4150, then turning it back on. There is hole in the back, but I believe that is a Hard reset, so will clear everything.
Any advice would be gratefully received

The hole in the back is used for both hard and soft resets. Basically if you push the stylus in to the whole and watch the screen it should soft reset (just like restarting a PC), you will still have all your data and installed programs. To do a hard reset it depends on the manufacturer and model, most require you pressing a stylus into the whole and pressing and holding a number of different buttons on the Pocket PC so you can't usually mistakenly perform a hard reset (which is good). |

Thanks for the info. I shall be poking things into small holes tonight then.
taking it onto the next stage, when I activate the software, it says that I need an internet connection. Does this connection have to be set-up for the desktop PC or for the PocketPC?
The desktop connection isn't a problem, but I haven't gone in and set up a connection for the PocketPC. Plus I haven't even looked at what would be involved to do this (all I do know is that you should be able to do it when synced through your desktop). |

You need to have the pocketpc connected to the desktop, via Activesync (I guess) as the activation process needs to 'talk' to the Pocket PC. _________________ Tim |

Providing you have an internet connection available when you dock the Pocket PC into the cradle then you should be fine. If you're running any firewall software like ZoneAlarm then you may get an authorisation request to allow the program to talk out to the internet. |

Thanks for all your help. I have successfully installed the software and everything is running as it should.
Only problem was selecting the right COM port, 6 instead of 8 |
