Hi all,
I have just brought a Brand New Tomtom One V3 and have downloaded the TomTom Home Software so I can update the device but keep getting the following error -
Does anyone know what I can do before I have the hassle of going back to the Shop?
Thanks in advance.

Have you made a Windows Explorer backup of your TomTom
If not, do that first!
Do you have the TomTom connected? Does home (I don't use it) ask you which drive letter the TomTom is connected as? _________________ Jock

Back up done, TomTom Home recognises and opens as soon as the TomTOm is connected. |

Sounds like the memory might be write protected some how?
Close Home and explore the TT drive using Explorer. Can you create a folder (or a text file etc.) on there manually?
Get that sorted before you confuse matters with Home.
By the way, in all probability you do not have a "v3". Do you in fact have a One "3rd Edition" (i.e. no SD card slot)? It makes quite a big difference when asking questins as the is model is unlike the rest of the range in a few important respects. |

Hi, you are correct, mine is the 3rd Edition (i presumed v3 = version 3 = 3rd edition) thanks for pointing that out.
I tried to create a Txt file on the E drive (tomtom) and it worked.
Whilst it worked the 1st time it then did not work the second time I tried it.
It seems to be intermittantly disconnecting itself.
I tried a full explorer backup and it lost connection to the laptop half way through.
I expect this is why the file writing of the update could also not complete.
Is it getting too hot, too full, too busy?
Do I take it back to the shop?
Is there something I can try?

Have you tried pushing the USB Plug in VERY firmly?
Is it sitting firmly on the Desktop Cradle? _________________ Richard

It does sound technical. Swapping it might be the simplest solution.
I suppose you've tried a different USB socket (preferably not one on a hub) and checking Windows Device manager for any USB conflicts or warnings? |

Hello dixie sorry to piggyback on your post but i'm having probs with my one t 3rd edition. I've copied and pasted thi from the beginners forum as i've had no replies.
'''Hello all, merry crimble. I've just got a 'TomTom one T 3rd edition' and I'm having problems logging in to my account. I've created the account but every time i click on log in i get an error. Also i can't ' a operate my one' i'm told i need a file but it's currently unavailable. At first i was told there was a problem with the server but now i just get 'ERROR' I've tried to access tomtom sites independent of my tomtom-[it's not even plugged in] and google tells me 'oops! this link appears to be broken' Is there a problem with the tomtom server or something?
I've managed to access some stuff in the main menu and i see the speed camera alerts have to be paid for. My tomtom alerts me anyway, is this standard? If so what would i be paying for. And last but not least whats the traffic update situation? I've got the RDS antennae so what would i need to do to access them?
I apologise for my ignorance but it was a gift and i know nothing about it.
Thanks for taking the time to read this- any help would be much appreciated.'''
I've managed to log in now but not via 'home'. I still can't access the help online help file and i can't see where to get support for tech problems. I don't even know how to use the rds antennae.
Accessing the web site is painfully slow. Also i have a code [receive free services] but i can't see where to enter it. Links are taking an age to open.
If andyp2002 is reading this i'd appreciate your advice on what to do
Thanks |
