|

Hi
I am a new TTN6 user and am struggling a little bit. I am using the software on a Loox N560 which is quite easy to use, but what isn't happening is that my favourites and home location are not being saved after a Turn Off/Turn On.
I have searched the forum and found this problem is not uncommon, but what I can't find is the actual .cfg file? The SD card is NOT set to read only, so that isn't the problem, so I can only assume that the .cfg file IS set to read only but where the hell is it?
I hasten to add that TTN6 works fine.
Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated as it is doing my head in and I want to put the SatNav through it's paces over the Chrimbo period (visiting the disciples ).
TIA

Welcome to the forum, make sure the actual map folder isn't set to read only, pop the memory card into a card reader and view the card contents with Windows Explorer, right click the map folder and select properties, uncheck the Read only tick box.
Always make sure you exit the TomTom application by selecting Exit from within the application then wait a few seconds before turning off the PDA, otherwise the cfg file could become corrupt - Mike |

OK then, my map folder was set to read only, which I unticked and applied to all contents of the folder, but before I removed the card I checked it again and the read only was ticked again and I tried numerous times.
So it might appear that I can't untick it or remove the read only attributes.
I can actually add files to the SD card. Any further help?
Thanks. |

Was the TomTom software you are using supplied on a disk or Memory Card?
About the only thing I can suggest at the moment is to copy the entire card to the PC using Windows Explorer. Follow the guide found Here and make sure you have hidden folders and file extensions set as per the guide BEFORE you copy anything.
With a full copy on your PC format the memory card and copy the files/ folders back to the card - Mike |

Thanks for the reply Mike, but this does not work. I have copied the entire contents on to my pc, created a new folder, copied everything back into another SD card and still the same happens.
So, I tried to create a new folder on the desktop, checked the attributes and I couldn't remove the read only - I have tried two pc's with the same results.
I am very confused with whole matter.
Any ideas................anyone? |

On some PDAs there is a cfg File in My Device\Program Files\Navigator.
I don't know if it's applicable in this case. _________________ Richard

I Vaguely remember having a similar problem a while back and found that the only way i could change the file atributes was by copying the file from the card to the PC and then changing before copyig the file back to the card, not sure if i had to delete on card before copying back, also used card reader, hope this helps |

Another thought, change the atributes to archive before deleting file. |

Thanks aj
I know it may sound like a daft question, but what are the favourites and home location files called and what are the respective file extensions?
Thanks. |

They don't have their own Files but are stored in the .cfg File in the Map Folder. _________________ Richard
