|
|
Hi All.
I have been using the XDA Orbit for a week or so now with TomTom Navigator 6.00
I have noticed that it seems to be a bit slow in keeping up with where I am and POI ahead.
The screen seems to change in 2 second gaps or so.
For example, yesterday i was driving around town, i passed a speed camera and i didnt get my usual warning on approach, then when i just passed it, the warning went off.
I did check settings and it shows it should have a 350yrd advance warning.
I dont seem to have any problems with my TT700, which the screen always moves constantly along with me.
Am i doing anything wrong, is there a setting that needs changing somewhere or something i can do to make it run more smoothly?
The XDA has WM6 installed, TomTom map running off the Memory card.
Many Thanks

If you have POIs Enabled rather than using Warn When Near the Unit will slow to a crawl.
If you have warnings set up for the cameras you don't need these Enabled, unless you want to see them on Browse Map. Just turn them off after you've browsed them.
You only need to have POIs Enabled if you really want to see them on the Map. If you can keep the number as few as possible, you should see a marked improvement. _________________ Richard

In addition to the above make sure you shut down all other applications that might be running in the background, the Orbit only has a 201MHz processor so its not the quickest - it will run TomTom very well though once setup correctly.
Or consider overclocking it if you don't mind loosing a little battery life - Mike |

Thanks, I do have all my POI ( 100 of them ) enabled AND to warn so i guess the poor old phone is being worked to the bone.
Do you think i would get some good improvement if i guest have them WARN only ? I will untick them to be enabled.
I will give it a go on my way home tonight.
Many Thanks

Give it a try and you will find a huge difference, also check for other running programs and shut them down before strating TomTom - Mike |

Hi All,
I disabled all the POI to be shown on the map and left only the alert sounds, It worked wonders!
It does need a very minor tweak on some distances, but other then that im well pleased now.
Thank you all so much!
