It looks like a ONE New Edition. But it's not the latest model.

Yes, it does have an SD Card slot. It's a good product but there are cheaper places to get it though.

If it has the original maps and software, it won't be the latest map.

If you're happy to go with that model, it will mostly be refurbished stock, or second hand.

Why not look at the XL, which has the SD Card slot and is about the same price, but with newer Maps.

Here's one example.

I can buy the one from Argos and just update with the latest software, right?

You will need the new Maps also to do full justice to the software.

It all depends on how old the Argos Units actually are.

Purchase the unit and install the latest software... hopefully that should work. Isn't it possible to know how old the unit is by the description of the product? how much was your TT?

A lot more than £150.

Installing the latest software won't give the latest Map.

If you can open the box in the shop and switch it on you can find what software and Map Versions are installed on it.

If the Map is not V7xx then it doesn't have the most up todate Maps installed and doesn't match what the Advert says.

Argos product comes with money back guarantee, so if I don’t like it I’ll just take it back. The second statement, why is that?

If the Maps are pre-650 I think I'm right in saying that the latest V7.162 software won't work with them. You certainly won't get Mapshare with out V675 or later.

Note that GPS units (and any other "software" related equipment) is exempt from the standard 30 day money back guarantee.

In the Argos link you gave, on the left, below the picture of the TomTom, it says,

Additional Information
Please note that this product is excluded from our 30 Day Money Back Guarantee. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Also, the Product details say
"Latest and most complete maps pre loaded".
Does that mean they are on the internal memory, or SD card? Your best bet is to see if it has an SD card slot or not, then see what software/maps it has. As oldboy says, if the maps are not V7.xxxx, it won't have mapshare, but you can always update the software with TomTom HOME.

Thanks, I'll ask the staff and see what they say.

I can tell what they will say,the same as in Currys, exactly whats on the box or in the catalogue.bear in mind it will cost you to update the software.
I would take note of the excellent advice given.
