Hi, in all the advertising of the 720/920 it says that the maps have been updated to show, quote "building footprints", I cannot seem to make them show on my 920; has anbody got any ideas. Map version is the latest. |

This will really depend upon where you are, some cities have been mapped with basic 3D building outlines, the first time I saw it I wondered what the unit was doing, it is very basic so don't expect to see a full rendition of the local high street! - Mike |

we seem to have been here before.
Out comes a new model, out comes another major feature that doesn't work. |

It does indeed work just don't expect to see tower blocks and other buildings in glorious 3D.
In this version all you get is a slightly raised section shown |

I guess what's under discussion here is the fact that TomTom mentions the feature and shows it in the promotional screen shots but doesn't mention that it is extremely limited to just a handful of map spots.
Not even the whole of London is covered.
It's these kind of 'headliners' that take the shine of a new product, I always think 'under promise and over deliver' - not the other way round....

I don't like it anyway - I find the map harder to read when the "3d" buildings pop up. Wish there was a way to turn it off. I've modified my colour scheme which gets rid of some of it but not all |
