Hi,

I'm attempting to create a POI file of YHAs in Australia (unless anyone can point me to an existing one Smile ). I've successfully created POIs directly in TT Navigator 6 on a PPC, by finding their street addresses, but I would like to convert them to CSV format to edit the data more quickly, and to create a Memory Map CSV file.

I've copied the .ov2 files to my PC and tried both POIconverter and dumpov2. However, POIconveter gives the error message "Unsupported record type:**/21, please inform the author" (when opening the ov2 file) and dumpov2 prints column headers but no data. POIconverter is v 3.05 11/6/2004, am I using the latest version?

Has the data format in TT6 changed, or might there be a problem with negative latitudes, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks, Alan.

Hi again,

Sorry, I should have read Richard's reply to the previous thread, where I see the latest version is 3.18. Embarassed

That seems to have fixed the main problem (with POIconverter), except that the Longitudes in all the formats I've tried are given as positive (East) and need to be negative !

Thanks, Alan.

Have you tried POI edit?
http://www.poiedit.com/

That gives longitude in +/- format

Hi Andy,

Thanks, yes POIedit confirms the results from POIconverter (but the latter has the advantage of generating Memory Map files), which made me think..................

It seems MM has allowed me to calibrate my scanned maps "back-to-front" (i.e. giving Australia negative longitudes). Embarassed I guess, being designed in the USA, MM don't like to force users there to work with negative Longitudes Wink

So most of my problems are resolved (or at least explained), except that the (now unnecessary) basic dumpov2 utility didn't seem to work.

Cheers, Alan.

Dumpov2 was written to support OV2 type 0,1,2 and 3 files, which TT used.

With their own created OV2 files TT have recently changed the file type. Rolling Eyes

I think it's something to do with the extra data field.

Fortunately the latest version of POIEdit is able to read them. Smile

Which files do you mean Richard?
My version of POI Edit "2007" cannot open either the Mapshare CAxxxx.ov2s or the recent add-on files like GB_Pharmacy.ov2 etc

The OV2 Files that a TT can create on the Unit itself. They have a Hex 64 (100 Decimal) type.

This was in reply to AllyCat who was having trouble using DumpOV2 with Unit created POIs.

I don't know what format the ca and special files take, as I don't use them. Smile

Richard, do you know the format of the hex 64 (100 decimal) record type and if so are you willing to share the info?

I am able to split out the recent add-on files like GB_Pharmacy.ov2 etc but some of them include the hex 64 record type and I have simply skipped it as I haven't been able to work out what that record contains.

I'm afraid I don't know the format. I wish I did. Sad

It's something that TT hasn't divulged.
