New at this I want to use the GPS with the bicycle - Handheld with mapping

Main use will be in city and touring and want to both define routes and transfer to GPS and back to see routes made. Not essencial, but would really be great with the ability to see the route elevation profile (this is only possible for those with barometric altimeter, right?).

Main problem:
- Live in Portugal, so the maps I need will mostly be for Iberic Peninsula and a good street map from Lisbon.

Question:
- Does Garmin or Magellan have maps for me?
- Wich is the best? (hope I'm not raising a fan war Mr. Green )

For what I've seen, my possibility list now as:
- Magellan Meridian Platinum
- Magellan Meridian Colour
- Magellan SportTrak Pro
- Garmin Vista
- Garmin GPSmap 60C / 60CS
Any advice on this list?

Are you sure a handheld fits your needs? If you talk city and street routing then you should rather look at a PocketCP or Palm based solution. The handhelds are good for outdoors, but not for street navigation.

I really started by analysing the Garmin iQue (really sounds like the ideal), but once I read about the batery problems started to think handheld - got to take a look at it
