Having used my X970T for a couple of months now (and eagerly awaiting my V7 upgrade) a couple of issues both of which have been reported elsewhere.

1) On occasions if I miss a turn the unit just "freezes" and does absolutely nothing until I find my own way back to the original route. This happened a couple of weeks ago in Aberystwyth - most unhelpful since I didn't have a clue where I was. Same again last night in Birmingham, missed a turn and then nothing; didn't try and turn me around or anything. It doesn't do this all the time, quite often it will re-route me but not always (and generally when I am roads with which I am not familair Confused This hasn't happened on new roads or anything similar and according to the unit I am getting at least 5 or 6 GPS locks so in theory I still have a signal. It just seems that when I really need the unit to kick in and help it dies on me..........

2) I know somebody else reported something similar in another thread but coming back down the M5 last night the ITIS info was actually right for once and predicted a hold up following a multi-vehicle accident around J5 southbound ( and shock, horror just for once my TM Freeway missed this until I was stuck). Point is at no time did the system offer me a re-route option which would have been possible since I received notification at J4. Sort of undermines the whole concept of TMC doesn't it?

and finally, as one of my colleagues once suggested............it's a shame that these police cars/highway patrol vehicles don't carry a mobile gallows in the back. I am sure the sight of a few bodies strung up by the side of the road Laughing would cause people to think about their driving behaviours a little more carefully and perhaps avoid some of the carelessness that seems to afflict our roads at this time of the year. Seems just about every journey I have been on in the last 2 weeks has involved an accident derived hold up where there has been a coming-together of vehicles travelling in the same direction (though I don't wish to offend anybody who may been the victim of a serious accident caused by another person's carelessness)

As Jeremy Clarkson said, some time ago, the car manufacturers should remove all airbags, remove the drivers seatbelt and then replace them with a 6" spike coming out of the middle of the steering wheel - that would increase driver concentration Laughing .............
