Due to the theft of my 60CSx, it is being replaced. The prices in US are lower than UK, and I only use TOPO GB software, not the base map. Several US websites are offering 60CSx at good prices. However, will the US hardware version work ok with TOPO GB software? |

I trust you would be passing the saving on to your insurance company?

Saldy, the insurance company would only insure against theft from the vehicle if it was in a locked boot, which it was not as I only left the car for 5mins!!!! |

I bought a 60CSx in the US in September and installed Topo GB on my return. It works fine, subject of course to the usual criticisms of the Topo mapping. The only slight drawback is that the basemap is US rather than Europe, but both are so limited as to be of little practical use and you indicate this not an issue for you. For reference, I paid about $360 including sales tax in NY for the 60CSx, and could have had a $50 mail-in rebate if I had been resident in the US. I did notice at the time that some UK sellers were offering US versions at a lower cost than the European, so you might want to look at that as an alternative to buying from a US website (not all of which will ship overseas in any event). You will of course be liable for duty/VAT on imports. |
