Since upgrading my GO510 to app version 7.16 it no longer automatically switches between day and night colours.
I can change the colours manually but I have the box ticked to "Switch to night view when dark" and this doesnt happen.
Anyone else getting this or have a fix for it? |

I also have a GO510 and had this problem, but I'd forgotten to change the settings in both "Brightness Preferences" and "Docking Preferences" Once I'd ticked them both it was ok.
Did you have problems with bluetooth after upgrading to version 7.16 and if so have you solved them and how?
Regards

Having put an old memory card with the previous app version into the GO510 I still have the problem. The GO seems to think that it's always night. Looks like its a hardware problem.
Bluetooth works ok. Handsfree calls are a bit crackly but I think that was always the case. Data works ok.
Whilst I was messing about trying to get the day/night switchover working I lost all the settings in my settings.dat file and had to reselect all my preferences and reconnect the TT to the phone from scratch. Perhaps this is the reason why mine is working when others have said they have problems. Make sure you have a backup if you intend to play about with this. |

Today the automatic switchover between day and night has started working properly again. So either its intermittent or messing about with the settings.dat file has fixed it. |

My bluetooth hands free calling is appalling now and almost unusable - hope someone comes up with a fix soon - it was fine before going to V7 software on my 910. |

Wildoat, this topic was about day/night switching, but if you keep an eye on THIS TOPIC you might find an answer, if the OP gets back to us! |

I am experiencing exactly the same fault with my 710.
My unit is only about 4 months old, and was switching between day and night without any trouble, then suddenly it has decided to stay in night mode.
I have checked all the settings, and they were/and are correct. The sensor is not obscured in any way and I am able to change between day and night manually, but no auto change.
I have tried contacting Tom Tom, but all I get back are the instructions for setting it up (which I already know, and have done)!!
Help anyone? |

Same happens on my 910. I manually change back to daylight, reboot (pin job) then re set up for auto switching then works ok until the next time - this used to happen for me with v6 as well as v7. |

After a bit of experimentation I have mine working again.
This was achieved by deleting "settings.dat" from the TT.
The TT recreates "settings.dat" when you restart it and you loose all the settings previously selected. Having selected the required options again, reset up my mobile phone, reentered my home address (for the startup password screen) the night/day switchover now works correctly.
If you are going to try this you will want to BACKUP YOUR TT FIRST. |

Brilliant! I eventually got round to trying your tip and deleting the 'settings dat' file , Booted up the machine again, and it all works properly.
Many thanks for your help |

I also find that every time I update the software via home the problem is corrected for a time but then it goes wrong after a period of use.

I have had the same problem too and think I can replicate it.
Should the TomTom GO 910 ever go into night time colour mode when NOT in is cradle or windscreen mount? I don't think so. Mine does do this though - even though it is clearly daytime, NOT in its Wind Screen Dock and the light sensor is NOT covered.
Steps to re-create probem:
1. Use the TomTom GO 910, in it's wind screen mount in the darkness, with the "use night colours when dark" setting enabled. The TomTom GO 910 will correctly be darkened and in night-time colour mode.
2. Whilst it is still in the windscreen mount, switch the TomTom GO 910 off.
3. Plug the Tomtom GO 910 into the USB desktop cradle, run Tomtom Home 2 on the PC and switch on the TomTom GO 910. Answer YES to the "do you want to connect to the PC" question.
4. Allow any updates such as POIs/Map corrections etc.
5. Use "Discconect Device" in TomTom Home or "Eject drive..." from Windows "My Computer" window.
6. Allow the TomTom GO 910 to boot up, whilst still in the USB cradle.
7. Answer "NO" to the "Connect to Computer" question on the TomTom GO 910.
Result:
1. Whilst in the USB cradle, the map display will be in night-time mode - even with the 150Watts of room lighting switched on and even with a torch shining on the light sensor!
2. When you remove the device, whilst it is still turned on, from the USB cradle it stays in night time mode. Even if you put it in broad daylight - it stays in night time colour mode.
Going into Menu-"Change Preferences" and "Brightness preferences" or "Docking preferences" and unchecking the "Switch to night view when dark" in either, has no effect. The unit stays in night time colours mode.
You have to switch manually to Menu-"Change preferences"-"Use day colours" for the unit to start behaving properly again.
I really think this is a bug and have reported it to TomTom. |

Why does it even need a light sensor?
Fact 1: The Tomtom knows where it is, i.e. its Latitude and Longitude
Fact 2: The Tomtom knows the time
Fact 3: Calculating sunrise and sunset times is easy |

Which is exactly what this little app does brilliantly!

I've been running v1.3 for well over a year on my Go700 with v5/6/7 and found it really useful.
