|
|
Hi!
My dad bought the new edition X960 the other day which came with the version 7 software DVD. The unit works fine but I'm having problems loading the software onto my PC. When I run the install I get as far as connecting to he unit and get the message "synchronization with the portable device in progress" and it just sits there. I started the latest attempt at about 5pm and it's still running (now 7.26pm). I've tried uninstalling and the uninstall doesn't appear to work. I ended up having to do a system restore.
Any ideas anyone?
I've thought about downloading the version 6.5 software and trying that.

Hi!
Windows XP Home SP2 with all the latest updates.
I've also tried it on a laptop with XP professional and I get the same problem.

I eventually had to reboot my PC, when I did a message came up saying that the version of ActiveSync was not compatible with the device. The version on the DVD appears to be 4.2 and the latest on the MS site is 4.5. Could this be my problem?

Bryan
if you didn't already do so, check out my thread just above this thread detailing problems I was having with Activesync.
It's a long shot but if per chance you had installed a 3G modem on the PC any time recently this causes the type of problem you have described.
Once I tried a system restore to an earlier date the problem disappeared. |

Hi!
My modem's been installed for about 6 months. It's a TalkTalk model.
The problem appears to be similar to the one you had. I've tried some of the "solutions" on the microsoft site regarding USB connections and still haven't had any success.

I tried all of those solutions on the MS site and also some stuff off the ViaMichelin site and got absolutely nowhere.
I do wonder if its linked to the modem though because in your case it has never worked because the X960 is new and the modem was already on there but in my case activesync had worked perfectly (with an X970T) until I installed the new modem software.
I was all ready to blame the device but it seems that whatever the problem was it was something on the PC. It also seems to affect IBM Thinkpads (though it may be a wider issue than just that) |

HI , Are you using XP or Vista...?? If Vista it might be defaulting to the driver for your X-970T.....never had an issue like this myself as always worked fine with my Dell unit... _________________ Leyio = Share anywhere anytime!

Hi Stu, hope you enjoyed the break! Not sure if you are aiming your question at Bryan or myself (since I have the X-970T) but from my perspective, since it links to the problems I was having with Activesync..........
In my case its XP Pro with Service Pack 2 on an IBM Thinkpad.
As soon as I restored my PC to pre-3G modem conditons all worked fine..... again |

Perhaps if I am lucky I can give my wife the slip when we are in Paris in a couple of weeks and meet up with this nice French lady! Is this a perk for working at Michelin? |

Well we do have some very nice French girls at our Paris office but as a married man I can't see them due to the blinkers fitted by my wonderful and stunning wife (Will now email her the link with me saying this for obvious brownie points!!) _________________ Leyio = Share anywhere anytime!

I would also like to know the solution as the only way I got it to work was by uninstalling ActiveSync 4.5 and reinstalling an old version 3.8. Since then it has worked like a charm. But I would like to reinstall 4.5 or later as I cannot sync my Windows Mobile V6 phone!
I think it is unique to IBM Thinkpads after a 3G modem is installed. |
