hi guys,,,i am a noobie to the site,,,,,
i have just acquired a dell x5 palm,,,and i would like to put my ttn6 on it,,,however when i load the files on my sd card,,it does not reconise them..... ,,,
i have a t mobile vario 2 and the tom tom 6 works fine with this on my sd card,,,,,
Make sure you load the SD card as one folder and not just the contents of the folder. I had hte same problem and when I reloaded it as maps as one file folder it worked. Install TT as one folder as well. Should work.
i do load the folder as one,,,,,i put ttn6 onthe sd card,,,load to in me x5,,,load the tomtom today file,,,,,,this put tthis file into program,, i think,,,the i install the tom tom navigator file,,,,this puts the logo on me pda....but,,,,,,when i click the red icon,,,,,does not reconize tomtom.....me thick or whta
one theory is it because the windows version of the x5,,is poss 2000-2002,,,but not 2003

What you should have is the .cab file for the application and the maps (in a top level folder on the card). This is how they are supplied by TomTom. You double-click the .cab file - which installs the application (usually to your PDA memory for speed of running) and then unlock your maps. Until you do this it won't show any maps being present. _________________ Phil

Whoa there...
Now you are saying you are trying to upgrade the o/s to PPC2003 as well?
I would forget the TomTom as the upgrade will erase all installed apps in any event.
If you really want to upgrade to PPC2003 then I would suggest you make backups of your 'volatile data' - eg. contacts etc.
Make sure you have originals of the applications you will want to reload after the upgrade.
DO NOT take a backup then reload the backup after the upgrade - it will screw up the registry for you with unpredicatable results.
As you are upgrading the o/s it wouldn't do any harm to hard reset the device first - this clears it down to a 'clean' system - you will loose apps and other user data (see three paras up).
Then do the upgrade in accordance with the instructions provided by DELL. If you get stuck then this site will be very useful.
Then you can get on with installing TomTom. It should install without any problems from the TT supplied SD card. _________________ Phil
