Hi everybody,
I've got all the stuff from FatSlag to be able to "tweak" my Medion, but before I do it, i tried to get my Medion to recognise the Albanian map that hes got so I know how to add back my UK maps. I put it in the Map Regions folder but it's not selectable!! What am I doing wrong????
Any help for this Numpty would be much appreciated!

OK...how did you add the maps?
If you simply dragged them to the medion they won't be recognised. You have to use (I imagine) active sync & ensure that they have been changed to the mobile device format.
Assuming that all of this is OK...where is the map regions folder located?
Mine is on my SD card & my map is visbible when using active sync.
I assume that you know how to access the other maps (S?) added- using the navigation software?
Incidentally, when are you going to Tirana?
If all fails, re-format the flash disc & reinstall the software. |

The maps were already installed when i bought it. I have used Active Sync to copy the PSF file to MapRegions in the My Flash Disk folder on the device. I have then reset the device but still no joy?!?!

OK...create a new map regions folder on the sd card, then tranfer all map data to that. Then erase the original on the FD
I don't keep the map regions on my FD & all works fine. |

As I am paranoid about irrevocably screwing up the unit(I need it for work!!), I renamed the Map Regions folder to XMapRegions and put a MapRegions folder on the SD Card. It responded with "No Maps Present". I still have the version of GoPal that came with the unit running. Is it maybe possible that this version cannot new maps??

Ok...so to confirm:-
You can see the SD card on Active Sync AND the Medion 'knows' that it's there? That is, it'll read other data stored on it.
I had a similar issue, re-formatted the SD card & re-installed my bits & pieces on the sd card later.
If this still doesn't work, then why not just add maps to the map regions folder when you need them? The FD isn't massive BUT should hold the UK & Albanian maps that you have with room to spare.
The Medion is a CE device & should run anything, with the correct mods & fiddles. |

Dave,
I have already tried adding a new map (PSF) file, using ActiveSync, to the MapRegions folder then resetting the device to re-boot it and it still refuses to see anything other than what was installed when i bought it. Also, a quick one, is CE stored in ROM so that if it comes to the worst case, I can completely wipe the FD and start again. One more thing, I have tried to find Backup Manager with Google, but no joy(Or I'm being dense), if you have it could you upload it to the link below please. Sorry to be a pain

The CE is well hidden.
Wipe your FD & start again.
You're not being dense......just cautious.
I assume that you have a complete back up of your FD?
If so, just do it.
Failing that, do a re-install of the original set up & start afresh from there.
The above link looks like a fileshare site, not too sure just how the mods would react to such things.
Best of luck. |

As has been said above, further discussion of pirate software, links to keygens and other sources of such will result in your forum accounts being suspended.
Our rules are quite clear so lets try and keep to them please. _________________ Darren Griffin |

No worries, it can be very difficult to suss out what is legit or not these days...hence my query. I really would reinstall the original setup & go from there. One point worth considering...Medion produce two types of PSF mapware. Don't know the difference BUT do suspect that whatever you have aint the one....it's the only conclusion that I can come to.
It may have been suggested earlier up the thread............ |

Just to make things clear the medion maps are different for each version of software they make ie the medion ME psf files are not the same as the AE psf files and you cannot swap them around as you have found they wont work same goes for the PE version that use's the format "Map" instead of psf |
