Hi All,
I'm new here and new to GPS in general.
I've got a unit which is similar to this one
The software in the one I have is TeleAtlas but I'm not too happy with it.
The unit has a WinCE sticker on it so that would be the OS.
I'm looking to know what program you guys would recommend I use and if you have any hints or tips as to how to install it easliy.
By the way, I'm based in Ireland so if you could recommend the best one for that area I'd be grateful.
Thanks in advance to all!!!! |

Blurb says:
Quote: | * To install your own GPS software or any other programs: the Naviagtion icon in main menu excutes /sdmmc/navigator/navigator.exe or /flash/navigator/navigator.exe or similar. So you can replace the executable with yours. Eg. replace it with explorer.exe will bring you WinCE (4.2/5.0) desktop. |
So it looks like it should be possible.
TomTom Navigator 6? |

Hmmm.... I was going to say "yes" but looking at the specs HERE, it would appear not.
Strange, all the hardware based UK models have Eire, and the ones supplied with Western Europe maps do too. |

My "Canadian Cousin" is sending me some diferent softwares to try out so I'll see how I get on with them.
Although if I had any recommendations to help his search it would help..... |

But if you click on show map info it says:
Great Britian & ROI ............. includes Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
How can it be Great Britian without them?
Has anyone had expericence of this product in Ireland?
Also is there anything else I could use? |

The downloadable map certainly does have Eire on it now. I bought one for my Go300 last year.
No idea whether or not the Navigator comes with or without it though.
Guess that's a question for TomTom. It might be they just haven't updated the blurb on the website, because the UK map used to just have Northern Ireland. |

There are users reporting that the latest 675 map works with TT6,020 and 6,030 which are the PPC software versions, that map has good Ireland coverage - as far as I know the sofware is available for free, it is the map that you have to pay for - Mike |
