Hi all
Please forgive me for my ignorance but i have the following query, probably been answered befofe. I am thinking of buying the TT one V3 but can anyone tell me if along with the safety cameras (gatsos) etc does it also give warning of locations where mobile sight are used. If not does the Garmin Nuvi 200
would be very grateful for any response.

The camera locations are just a series of POIs, and yes, the ONE can handle Camera locations and give Warnings. Smile

Hi wingcoman,

Welcome to the forum! Thumbs Up

If you have a look at the speed cameras page here you'll see that both the TomTom ONE V3 and the Garmin Nüvi series can use the PGPSW camera database.

Regards,

As supplied the TomTom is pre-loaded with the TomTom Speed Camera database, this does not cover Mobile camera locations and only provides a simplistic "Bing Bong" style warning.
The fixed camera locations are not as accurate as the database from this site, and neither are they updated as frequently. You do get a voucher to update the TomTom Speed Camera database once for free, after that you have to pay.

I have tried the TomTom database and soon removed it, over a 100 mile trip it got 10 fixed cameras wrong, a more recent test over a seven mile trip it got 5 locations wrong, you can make up your own mind on this though once you get the device.

The Pocket GPS World database is fully configurable and allows the use of true spoken alerts which not only detail the camera type but the speed limit as well getting the device to say "Warning Gatso Ahead Speed Limit is 30 miles per hour" when approaching a 30MPH rated Gatso is very easy with pre compiled audio files which are ready to download free from this site, they are named to match the POI files they are intended to work with - Mike

When you get the device come back for additional advice as there are help guides on the site for many different ways of getting more from the navigation device, just remember the most important step is to back up the device to the PC BEFORE you do anything else with it.
Only last night I had the joy of recovering a 910 to working status as the owner didn't have a backup, this step is vital with all devices these days - Mike
