poor GPS locking TT720

Hi, I've got the 720 and used it to travel across from London to Glasgow on my holidays. The few days after I updated TomTom (GPS Fix), the GPS locks rather quickly.

However, after 7-10 days, using TT720 again for the long way back, it suddenly takes almost 30 seconds before GPS will lock and it knows where it is (as I haven't updated TomTom in the mean time, nor did the GPSFix).

Why can TT only lock quickly to GPS coordinates after using its GPSFix tool, while other GPS devices always find their location within the same 10 seconds, everyday of the year?

Maybe this is a firmware issue, or even a design limitation. Possibly the use of A-GPS prevents the device from retrieving the ephemeris from the satellites (like the other receivers do). Just a guess though.
