|
|
A workmate has recently bought a pda which has i-go 2006 installed and wants to put the speed camera database on.I gave him the info on this forum regarding downloading the .txt file and placing it inside igo/poi/speedcam.He tells me that there is no poi folder within the igo folder but since he is not fully clued up with computers(his words not mine)i am wondering if he is correct. We cover different areas so i have not seen this sat nav software working or the file structure so i am hoping someone on here can give me a few clues to pass on.I have seen igo 2006 se mentioned on this forum and wondered if there are different versions.Workmate says his only says igo 2006 on the today screen icon.
Thanks in advance for any help provided. |

He needs the iGO 2006 PLUS version to use the camera database. |

Thanks for the quick reply.I suppose thats a new purchase required rather than an upgrade for igo2006.
Got a few days off so might go and see this in action since he says its a really good system and prefers it to the tomtoms that some other co-workers have. |

Have a look HERE , they were offering Free iGO My way update for the summer! and as iGO 8 is just around the corner he may still be able to get a good deal on 2006+. |

Past the info on so he can check out if an upgrade is still available.
Went and seen the i-go in action and have to say i was very impressed with the system.Did see the roundabout issue with only getting the instruction at the last warning but didn't find it a problem as the icon shows you the exit long before you get the distance countdown. Also the problem with only the US voice can be used for miles/yards,again not a problem just limits the choice.I do believe that one or both issues have been resolved in the 2006 plus upgrade. The interface is a bit fiddly at first but imo after a few attempts would become second nature.
The route calculation happens very quickly(certainly quicker than the tomtoms i have seen and my own navigon 6 system)and also recalculates should you take a wrong turn very quickly. The maps also seem to be better than my navigon system(the private road leading to my work not on the navigon maps but does show on the igo map.)
All in all a very impressive system with good maps and guidance calculated at a very fast speed.I am now considering going for the new igo 8 system for my pda. |

The iGO 2006 + has all the improvements re voice and distance to roundabout etc. including of course, speed cams. The only thing which can be annoying is, if the Specs camera database has shown 50mph for roadworks and the roadworks have gone and it's not yet been reported/updated, I get a constant average speed warning when doing 70mph.

I thought this at first, having used TTN5.21, but recently tried to show someone how their TT works and found, having using iGO for a while, I'd forgotten and found TT 'fiddly' plus a bit embarassed when trying to show off my expertise to a new user.
I haven't had 2006+ very long so won't be buying 8 yet, unless they do a good deal. |
