How do I determine the date of the update of Garmin Nuvi Maps?
I've just bought a Nuvi 270 and the UK 'Map Info' says 'City Navigator Europe NT v9'
Is this the current version?
The reason I ask is that my daughter's house (now over 3 years old) still shows up as just a field.

Hi and welcome.
V9 maps are just about a year old. The V10 (or 2008) will be out end of 2007 / beginning of 2008....
Problems like this do occur with all mapping but it seems the manufacturers are making more of an effort to get them updated quicker. |

I have a Nuvi 200W and when I was in Birmingham, second time using my first ever sat nav The new road isn't in the N9 version so it thought I was driving on space which was funny. |

It's looking to me like the Garmin 'map updates' are a rip-off.
I mean, if there are roads over three years old which are not mapped
then what on earth are you paying for. It's not as if the 'updates' are cheap. |

This topic comes up time and time again.
Garmin don't make the maps they buy them from another company. You'll find the same problems exist with TomTom and all other Sat Nav maps.
Whilst some estates and roads will be missing some newer ones will be included. The problem, i think, is the scale of the task, to map every road in the UK / Europe / the World. Some areas will get missed. 3 years does seem a long time for a road not to have been added but with the increased popularity of Sat Nav over the last 18 months hopefully the maps will be updated more often and more accurately. |
