|
|
Today TomTom released a limited public beta of HOME 2.0. this release is specifically for users of the new range of GO 520/720 SatNavs.
HOME 2.0 now features a distinctly different and easier to use interface, which is similar to the user interface that can be found on a TomTom device. HOME 2.0 also makes things even easier to manage by providing new “Help” menus and “Wizards” beneath each option which will take a user step-by-step through a process when selecting an option.
More importantly HOME 2.0 provides users with access to the MapShare data allowing you to download the map corrections uploaded by other users. _________________ Mike Barrett

Do I get a prize for the obvious question No 1.
How do we get a copy?
Cheers

I got my beta copy from a link on the tthome program itself. Although the link was incorrect and i had to edit the link in internet explorer itself!
http://www.tomtom.com/page.php?Page=home2beta&Lid=1
Thats the link eventually i edited to get to send me to the correct page. Although its very different fron the original version, you can`t do anything more to/with your tomtom unless you have a 720 with mapshare. I think this feature will be great once we all get navcore 7 running on out own older tomtom`s _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

Aesthetically the new version of HOME is much nicer but in terms of functionality I'm finding it very poor, everything is wizard driven and seems to take more clicks - the old menu down the left worked fairly well and made it easy to switch between things - just need a cleanup!
One good thing is this version doesn't keep nagging me to download the TomTom Safety Cameras |

Mine has gone to outside the TomTom office in Amsterdam, which I guess is reasonable, as that it where all TomToms started their life. _________________ TT720 V8.010, regular audio book user.

Although that shouldnt happen I did state at the head of the topic that this is for the new 520 and 720 devices. Is yours a 710 or 720? _________________ Mike Barrett |

Yes I read that after I came here, but this morning when I started home it offered me to click here to try the Homer beta 2.0, so I did
Well its uninstalled now and I will just use windows Explorer to update the camera database, until the next OS update from TomTom comes along _________________ TomTom Go 700,

I had the device on first before I opened home, maybe this had something to do with it. I will try reinstalling and see what happens _________________ TomTom Go 700,

My TT Go 720 won't connect with TT Home V2 Beta! (PC goes ding when I connect, I can read the SD card in Windows explorer and TomTom Home fires up into life.... but says there is no TomTom device connected).
Any ideas? I have only had this unit for a few days and although it seems to be an excellent device as a sat-nav and phone handsfree unit, I have had endless problems with connectivity to my PC and TT Home... and can't therefore update it or use MapShare...
Help! |

HOME Beta2 works OK with my 910. No problems downloading the 'component' either.
Better watch out that the Disconnect Device Icon is now only a Menu Bar item. Could easily be overlooked. _________________ Richard
