|
|
I just purchased a refurbished TT Go 700 (4D00.700R) and all is well except that the docking shoe is mismatched to the base of the TT unit. The base of the TT is round and about 5 cm diameter with a chord line at the front of the circle (approx below the release button on the front face of the TT) so that the measurement from back of base to the chord line is about 4 cm. The TT base has a 15 pin female connection about 1.5 cm wide running parallel to the chord line) that is centered about 1.6 cm from the back of the base circle. directly to the rear of this female pin connector is a round pin connector that appears to be a 5V DC 2 A power connector.
The docking shoe I received in the box appears to be roughly the same diameter and chord line, but it has a male 10 pin connector centered about 3 cm forward from the back of the of the base circle. There is no power pin connector on the docking shoe.
This obviously is not the right docking shoe. How do I get TT to trade out with me the correct docking shoe so that I can attach my TTG700 to the supplied mounting arm with window sucker? If I just return the whole unit it will do nobody any good. |

This is something that you will have to take up with who ever sold you the unit. It obviously not right, and won't work like that. Refurbished or new makes no difference. _________________ Richard

Just for info, the power is actually delivered via pins on the multipin or into a DC connector on the back. Confusingly, on the label on the bottom, they have put the the polarity diagram for that connector right next to the round connector which you mention. However, that connector is actually for the optional external antenna.
The (correct) standard base will not have a mating connector for it, but if you bought the external antenna, it came complete with a whole new base with the required socket in position.
It sounds like you have a docking shoe for the Go "Classic" (the original model before the x00 range came out.
See the connection details HERE - First picture and pinout table is for the "Classic", and there is a link to the pinouts for the 700 (but no pic) at the bottom) |

Thanks for the help. I will try to get the seller to replace the incorrect shoe. IS it possible to just remove the male pin out on the docking shoe and then attach the TTG700 onto the shoe as a standalone unit (powered directly with the DC power adapter)? How would I take a part the shoe in order to slide the pin out away.?
Thanks again |

Yes you could.
There are instructions on taking the shoe apart HERE
Those instructions detail how to add the round external antenna connection from an old Clasic mount into a standard x00 series mount, but the theory is the same. The multipin just lifts out when you have it apart.
You really should insist on the correct shoe though. One of the nice things about the mount is being able to have the power connected permanently via the base. |
