SD Card compatability TT720

Looking at users comments on the forum, could someone please advise on the latest on the SD card compatability problem - just purchased a Sandisk Extreme III 2.0 GB card, formated it to Fat 32, and I am experiencing similar problems as previously reported - i.e. can't get the 720 to connect to Home (original home version as on disk supplied with 720) unit works 0'k with the blank SD Card as supplied with the 720

Does this indicate a faulty 720, or will TomTom introduce a software fix.

I contacted TomTom with this issue and they advise as follows:

"SD Memory Cards are currently available in capacities varying form 256- & 512 MB up to 2-, 4- and 8 GB.

Reading speed
When using SD cards, ideally the reading speed should be at around 10MB/second, because the map data continuously will be read from the card. Bear in mind that this is just an estimate and not a rule of thumb.

Writing speed
The card writing speed is not important in this sense, because the application is not going to write on the card.
The writing speed specification “45x speed” means that the reading – respectively writing speed of the card is 45x150Kb/s and that is why it is only 6,75 MB/sec (60x speed means 60x150Kb/s and this is 9,00 MB/sec.). "
