Palm TX and the Latest Software

I am trying to establish what is the latest version software compatible with my Palm TX.
Reading the vM site implies at least v.5 software is required if I wish to use the 2007 maps without reloading every time I change maps but it seems interest in supporting the Palm/PDA fraternity stops there with v.7 software availible only if you buy vM hardware also.

Thoughts? Comments?
