Hi,

I'm new here, so sorry if this is a dumb question:

I've been submitting a few POIs, based on local knowledge, but I'm not sure how to categorise a take away. There are categories for Chinese Restaurant and Indian Restaurant (and indeed Fish and Chips). Should a Chinese take away be put in the Chinese Restaurant category? This might potentially be annoying if you were looking for a restaurant (to sit down for a meal) and drove to it only to discover it's only a take away.

I suppose "Take Away Only" could be added to the details, but all the same, I wondered if there should be separate take away categories.

Cheers.

BB

If you can't sit down to eat, it isn't a Restaurant. However, how about adding (T) to show that it is also a Takeaway (Carry Out to Northerners) or (T/O) to show that it is only a Takeaway?

No, I meant Northerners. From Nottinghamshire up to Scotland I've been given puzzled looks if I've asked where a Take Away is. Then I'm told it's a Carry Out I need.

Since I got old, I don't get out a lot. I just thought anywhere south of Doncaster was both Southerners and Down. Maybe that's the problem.

Ah well, I'm from the Midlands, where we confuse both Northerners and Southerners alike. Each group thinks that we belong to the other, whereas in reality we belong to neither.

Naa. I live north of Nottingham, and they are most definitely "take aways". See http://www.standrewsdirectory.com/entry/marmaris-takeaway.html for an example!

Anyway, are you proposing adding "(T)" or "(T/O)" to the Details field?

Cheers,

BB

Perhaps it's a personal thing, then. I was also told that an Off Licence was called a 'Beer Off'! Have you ever heard that?

As to the proposal, no idea. MaFt?

From the South and as a Southerner, North and Northerners start at Luton, anywhere past that point is foreign as "Timbuktu". Wink

When a Northerner is on television you need sub-titles.

Edited: Twice due to my terrible spellings, will have to learn to use Microsoft Word first.
