Hi I have recently purchased an IPAQ HP6500 having previously had a HP5550 which the firm decided it wanted back Crying or Very sad I installed my Tom Tom 5 maps on the new machine and the inbuilt Tom Tom gps Navigator accepted the maps. However, I had a nightmare journey recently travelling from Norfolk to Penzance. Tom Tom kept losing the location, telling me to go in all sorts of strange directions which did not exist, then every now and again it would find itself for a couple of minutes before wandering off somewhere else. The map display occasionaly showed the blue arrow but joined to what looked like the correct road by a dotted line. I did have HP security software installed which encrypted some files I have taken it off for the remainder of the journey home. But I wondered if anyone else

a. Had had this problem before or knows what it may be
b. Can tell me if it's ok to use the Tom Tom 5 maps with gps Navigator which I actually don't like as much as 5 there seems to be a faur number of configuration limitations
c. Can tell me if it would be ok to install the complete Tom Tom 5 on the 6500 and so do away with the inbuilt gps?

Many thanks
A lost and confused old norfolk boy Laughing

Hi

Were you able to check the signal strength, I suspect that the receiver on the 6500 is not as good as the one you used with the 5550.

Hi exportman, thanks for your prompt reply. Yes, the signal strength looked ok, at least the times I looked at it when the silly voice was telling me to take the third exit on the roundabout and I was actually on the M25!! The journey back was the same and in the end I switched off as the voice was driving me crazy. I am now thinking I will just load Tom Tom navigator 5 which I had for the HP5550. I assume that as both are Windows Mobile 2003 machines there would be no problem and that I can then get the software to connect to the bluetooth GPS that I bought for the HP5550? Evil or Very Mad
