|
I got my tt720 yesterday, replacing my 910, and I soon found out that I cannot find any hardware stores. I spoke to the help desk and installed the poi for retail stores, because they said that would fix what is missing, however still not the case. Any ideas on how to fix or add the poi's I am missing? I am always looking for a Lowe's or Home Depot and the Tom Tom cannot find it.
Note: I have confirmed that the retail store stuff is in the tt.
Note: The help desk has no idea what they are doing. hmmmmm
Note: I am really annoyed

There are many knowledgable TT users here (sadly i'm not one of them) who should be able to help.
However as this site is UK based you might have to wait for answer (currently 22:48 here) but i'm sure someone will know the answer. |

I am slowly coming to the conclusion that they have slimmed it down to run in the 2GB Internal memory. Great shame, really. I was so impressed with first contact with it and now it's ever so slightly starting to go downhill. I wonder what's wrong at Tom Tom that they get sooo close to something really great and spoil it with a shortage of memory and dreadful customer support services? I'm not the least bit technical, but surely they could have got more than 2GB inside it to let it be much better? It looks like they have slimmed down the maps (well, for Europe anyway) - surely the best part of a successful satellite navigation device is getting the maps top mark? But they seem to be wasting resources on the side issues like Music and photos.
Good idea for you would be to go to Profile (high center of this page) and enter your location, then we can all dream of oranges and wine when we see your posts? _________________ Dennis

If that were true, I wish they considered giving us/me the option of what we want loaded on all the 2gb. Funny that I went from 20g with the 910 to 2 with this. All I want is to find the house I am looking for in Ca. not florida or s. carolina. stoooopid. Not listen to mp3 or look at pics. Just give me a good detailed map, which I really like about tt and locations with pois with addies and tele #. I dont care about anything else. Really. |

I have concocted if that is spelled right, a letter to the who doits at tomtom. Maybe they can come up with an answer. I have searched their websites and forums all day to no avail. Can anyone tell me, in the states can you find a home depot in los angeles ca with your tt720 us version. Is it just mine that is not working? Just like everyone else when I logged into tthome it auto updated. I wonder if this was the problem. I really hate to take this back again. seriously losing my mind Scratchy. |

The POIs on This Page, (you will need to select United States and press Refresh), have 1246 Lowes, under DIY, and 1808 Home Depot, under Shopping - Other, which you could add as Custom POIs. _________________ Richard

Error in selection criteria
Please select at least one category or subcategory.
Back To Download Section
I tried the link you selected and got the above error message which I just copied and pasted. I appreciate the help. I am actually looking for the app that goes to the 910 just wondering if I installed those pois if that would correct the problem, and will it even run with the newer firmware.
Thanks Dude

The POIs from this site that Oldboy has linked to install along site the pre-installed POIs. They will be more up to date than the pre-installed ones.

The reason for the error is usually because you didn't select any POIs to download. If you select US and then hit refresh you'll see section 3 looks like this:
Quote: | 3. Select POIs (date of last update : number of POIs)
Loading POI categories... |
Whilst it says Loading POI Categories you have to wait until the list appears. Then select the POIs you want and then hit Download. Until then you haven't selected anything to download. At the minute it's taking a long time to come up wit the list of POIs. Hang in there because it does load..
The download will be a zip file containing ov2 files that can be loaded into your TomTom. |

There is nothing at that link to click for US or tick to download. The page is blank other than the header at the top of the page which is just like the one at the top of this page. |

Try the Download POIs from the menu running down the lefthand side of the screen.
